name of this film (time travel related maybe idk)?

Hey I was thinking of when I was a child and I remember seeing this
movie, it isn't that old and I want to know it's name so I can look
for it. It's about a machine, that uses 3 huge rings and then a sphere
is used to carry a person. I remember that the first time they try to
build it someone blows it apart and then they build it again and then
a woman uses the machine and travels in some sort of wormhole and then
when she comes back everyone tells her that nothing happened she just
went in and out and they even show the videos to her. The woman meets
her dead father in the journey I think in a landscape that it's
exactly like one of her drawings in a fridge. The drawing has like 2
or 3 palm trees and one is bended.

I hope you can tell me which movie it is. I really want to see it
